Keep Our Fleet Rolling—Behind the Scenes, Where It Counts

Martin County Transit, a division of Senior Resource Association, is hiring a Fleet Maintenance Coordinator to help ensure our vehicles are ready to serve the community every day. If you're mechanically inclined, organized, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly, this role might be your next move.

About the Role:

As the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, you’ll start each day on the lot with our early morning team—conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, and making sure vehicles are safe and ready to roll. While major repairs are outsourced, you’ll handle light maintenance on-site and coordinate vendor services for everything else. From vehicle swaps in the field to tracking service timelines, you’re the link between day-to-day transit operations and the shops that keep our fleet road-ready.

What You’ll Do:

  • Complete pre-trip inspections alongside the AM Supervisor and identify potential issues.
  • Perform on-site maintenance such as fluid top-offs and minor component replacements.
  • Coordinate and schedule external vendor services for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Move fleet vehicles to and from vendor locations for scheduled work.
  • Respond in the field to vehicle breakdowns or accidents to exchange buses (no passenger transport required).
  • Maintain accurate service records, logs, and maintenance documentation.
  • Monitor vendor performance and timelines to support compliance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Safety & Operations Manager to source reliable service partners and ensure timely fleet upkeep.

What You Bring:

Experience & Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in fleet, maintenance, or transportation support.
  • Previous experience coordinating vendors or managing service schedules preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of basic vehicle systems and light maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with vendor coordination and service documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems in real-time.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, email, and fleet management software.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb, and work outdoors in all conditions.

Certifications & Requirements:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • CDL Class B preferred, but not required (no passenger transport duties).
  • Must pass DOT drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Level II background check and eligibility through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) required.

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor-based role with regular exposure to vehicles, fuel, and weather.
  • PPE is required per safety protocols.
  • Standard shift: 4:45 AM – 1:15 PM; on-call availability may be required.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
